ImageStudents at the University of Northern Iowa are working with Mrs. Raum and Miss Chamberlain's seventh and eighth grade classes from St. John's/St. Nicholas School in Waterloo, Iowa, to collaborate with classes in Poland and the Netherlands. We plan to develop a student information exchange project that focuses on telecommunication methods in other countries and cultural aspects of the three participating countries. The project at the middle level is designed to focus on specific concepts related to culture and customs in the countries along with technology in the global community.

The first lessom involves students creating a travel brochure for their country. Students will gather research from a variety of sources to design a colorful brochure done by students reflecting their country's origin, traditions, celebrations, foods, etc. These brochures will be designed on a computer with children in Poland, Holland, and the United States.

The second lesson is entitled "International Telecomputing." Students are asked to compare the telecommunication infrastructure in nine different countries per capita in a variety of countries. From this, students will identify relationships between telecommunications and the standard of living.
