Climax

The storyteller needs to be aware of where the climax in a story is located. It may be the highest point of interest, the place where ideas are drawn together, an important turning point in a series of actions, or the most forceful event. Knowing how to relate ideas in a manner which highlights the climax is important. The use of special expressions, repetition, appropriate pacing of speech, proper sequencing of events, and an artistic choice of words can all contribute to the rising action that builds toward a climax.

A series of events or actions highlight the opposing forces in the story and build toward an exciting or high point (the climax) after which the problem is resolved.
