Sawyer Home

503 West 12th Street

M. W. Sawyer first came to Cedar Falls in 1852, and opened a clothing store which was still in business in 1893, when Peter Melendy wrote of it in his history of Cedar Falls. Sawyer died in 1918, and ownership of the home was passed to his daughter.

Queen Anne influence is evident at this home, ranging from the pent roofs to the Doric columns that support the porch.

It is a private residence.
