The claim of this house, the "old Mully Place," to be the oldest house in Cedar Falls is based on a statement by local historian Roger Leavitt in his 1928 book, When Cedar Falls was Young. He wrote that the house was considered to be the oldest.

The house was probably built around 1860. It was built of brick that has since been covered over with concrete.
