Dannervirke Newspaper Site

315 State Street

Cedar Falls has long been a center of Iowa's Danish heritage. In the late 19th century, about forty percent of the local population was Danish, and the Dannervirke Newspaper was an important source of news and information.

The Dannervirke was founded in Elk Horn and published there for a brief time. It was moved in 1882 to Cedar Falls, where a picturesque limestone building was its headquarters.
